The packaging sector is undergoing a profound transformation. But what really matters is not the change itself, but how we choose to face it.
Today, Sustainability is no longer an aspiration or a differentiating factor. It is a necessary condition to operate, compete and remain relevant in an environment shaped by new regulatory requirements, higher customer expectations and growing social demand for responsibility.
In this context, at Grupo Lantero we have made a clear decision: to integrate Sustainability into the core of our strategy, on the same level as growth, profitability and operational excellence. Not as a statement, but as a real decision-making criterion.
The report we present reflects precisely that: decisions, progress and also the challenges involved in transforming a complex industrial model into one that is more efficient, circular and decarbonised.
In 2025, we continued to make progress with tangible results. The reduction of our environmental footprint -with nearly 38,000 tonnes of CO₂e avoided since our 2019 baseline year- demonstrates that the combination of process management, renewable energy use and a well-defined governance model has a real impact.
Beyond the data, this year confirms something highly relevant: Sustainability requires managing complex balances. Between innovation and technological capability, between market demands and industrial feasibility, between what is required today and what we are still building for tomorrow.
That is why our focus is on the areas where we can generate the greatest impact: developing packaging solutions designed for real recycling, promoting monomaterial structures and incorporating recycled materials. Because circularity does not begin with waste; it begins with design.
None of this would be possible without people. Nearly 3,000 professionals who move this project forward every day, together with customers, suppliers and partners who understand that Sustainability is a collective effort.
Six years after defining the baseline for our commitments and integrating this approach into our strategy, we can affirm that sustainability and efficiency are not only compatible, but move forward together as drivers of business transformation.
We look to the future with ambition, but also with realism. We know that the challenges ahead will be greater: decarbonization, regulatory compliance, and the scalability of circular solutions. And we also know that not all answers will be immediate.
But one thing is clear to us: progress is measured not only by what we have already achieved, but by how we address what remains unresolved.
We will continue investing in innovation, raising the standard of our solutions, and strengthening our positive impact on the environment around us.
Because we are convinced of one essential truth: the packaging of the future will be sustainable. Or it will not exist.
We continue protecting futures!

Grupo Lantero is a leading global industrial group in packaging and graphic arts solutions.
With corporate headquarters in Madrid and a strong international industrial and commercial presence, the Group combines technical expertise, industrial capability, innovation and customer focus to meet the needs of highly demanding sectors such as FMCG, food, beverages, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics and book printing.
Our value proposition is built around comprehensive rigid, flexible, cartonboard and graphic arts packaging solutions, with one common approach: to deliver packaging that is efficient, safe, competitive and increasingly sustainable. In 2025, Grupo Lantero proudly celebrates its 75th anniversary.

75 years facing every challenge with the same conviction: to generate positive and lasting impact in our environment.
This report captures part of that journey: measurable progress, bold decisions, collaboration with our stakeholders and a way of understanding packaging as part of the solution.
We have shown that it is possible to innovate with purpose, collaborate with impact and measure our progress with transparency. We close one cycle and open another, with the same ambition that has guided us from the beginning: to continue creating solutions that protect products, people and futures.
Because after 75 years shining together, the best is yet to come.
75 years innovating
75 years committed to Sustainability
At Grupo Lantero, we understand Sustainability as a strategic lever to create long-term value. It is the way we drive our growth: with responsibility, efficiency and a clear vision for the future.

In a constantly changing environment, we direct our innovation towards generating positive impact in environmental, social and economic areas, creating solutions that deliver real value to our customers and to society. To achieve this, we integrate eco-design and circularity from the outset, ensuring that every development is ready to respond to the challenges of today and tomorrow.
Since 2019, the year we defined as the baseline for our commitments, we have made solid progress in integrating environmental, social and governance (ESG) criteria into day-to-day business management and decision-making. This journey has enabled us to evolve coherently, driving change from the heart of our activity and consolidating Sustainability as a true engine of transformation.
In 2025, we take another step forward, strengthening this strategy around the three pillars that define our commitment: People, Product and Planet. Three axes that guide our actions and connect with the Sustainable Development Goals* where we know we can generate real impact, through our activity and our ability to influence.
(*) The Sustainable Development Goals were established by the United Nations at its Rio de Janeiro conference in 2012 to address urgent environmental, political and economic challenges.
At Grupo Lantero, people are at the heart of everything we do. They are the true driving force behind our commitment and our main competitive advantage. Their talent, technical knowledge, industrial experience and closeness to customers drive our growth and enable us to keep moving forward as an organisation. That is why we manage talent with the same rigour and vision with which we manage the business: through a clear strategy, with purpose and results orientation, but also with a deeply human perspective.
Our goal is to build an environment where every person can grow, develop their full potential and contribute the best of themselves, feeling like an active part of a shared project. We are convinced that when talent flourishes in a climate of trust, respect and opportunity, the future we build together is stronger, more human and more sustainable.

Four verbs summarise the way we understand people management. In 2025, we launched Talent Connect, a referral programme that turns our teams into the Group’s best ambassadors. This initiative strengthens the culture of belonging, diversity, employer branding and the sustainable growth of the business.
We identify internal talent, recognise it according to each person’s strengths and design succession plans that ensure the Group’s continuity.
We develop capabilities through performance assessment, internal promotion, mobility between countries, units and functions, continuous training and cross-functional projects.
We attract professionals with potential and experience, bringing in new perspectives, new capabilities and new ways of working.
We retain talent through motivating projects, competitive conditions and a safe, respectful and trustworthy environment. The best talent stays where it feels valued.
The safety and well-being of our people are our top priority. In 2025, we took a qualitative leap forward in the way we manage prevention: new governance, a new digital platform, new indicators aligned with international standards and a more consistent vision across all plants.
The migration to 6 Conecta, a comprehensive platform connected to Workday, enables us to digitalise and centralise reports, risk assessments, PPE, health surveillance, training, and chemical handling and management. This means greater control, stronger analytical capability and faster decision-making to reduce risks.
The figures support the direction we have taken. The trend confirms that the actions implemented in 2025 are working.

+300,000 hours of training since 2019. This figure not only reflects an extraordinary investment in talent development, but also conveys our ongoing commitment to professional growth at all levels of the organisation. Training is one of the most relevant levers to ensure technical continuity, adaptation to change and the professional growth of our teams.
The diversity, talent and commitment of our teams are the engine of our growth. In 2025, the number of employees with disabilities recorded a year-on-year variation of 4.65%, reflecting the continuity of our inclusion policies and our efforts to consolidate an accessible, equitable and respectful work environment.
Programmes such as IGUALES reinforce this vision, promoting a more aware and inclusive culture aligned with the Group’s values. Our goal is for every person to find an environment where they can contribute through their uniqueness and grow with confidence.
In 2025, this campaign, aimed at supporting employees in disclosing disabilities, generated 25 enquiries, reflecting both employee interest and the Group’s commitment to promoting barrier-free integration for people with disabilities.

In 2025, we planted the Bosque Lantero, a project developed together with Retree that goes beyond a symbolic activity. The reforestation initiative was carried out on georeferenced land located in an area identified by MITECO as a priority due to its risk of desertification and depopulation, two major territorial challenges.
The activity brought together more than 80 employees and family members and strengthened the sense of shared purpose and pride of belonging. In parallel, a professional forestry team planted 300 native-species trees, with certifiable density and satellite monitoring supported by artificial intelligence. This ensures proper traceability and follow-up.
Bosque Lantero connects two dimensions of our Sustainability approach: environmental contribution and people engagement. That is why we understand it as an initiative rooted in belonging, purpose and positive action.
Our partnership with the Tomillo Foundation remains the backbone of our social action. In 2025, 8 vocational training students completed internships in the Emsur, Leca Graphics and Coexpan business units, in areas such as electricity, IT and administrative services. A gateway to first employment.

Throughout 2025, different plants organised initiatives that strengthen teamwork, collaboration and connection with the local environment. These actions show that the Group’s culture is not defined only through corporate communication, but also through the experiences that bring people together at each worksite. Below are some illustrative examples:

Coexpan FSP carried out a clean-up day around the plant, bringing together employees from different departments to help preserve the local environment by collecting waste.

Leca Graphics opened its doors to vocational training students in prepress, offset and graphic arts from public and private schools in the Community of Madrid. Five centres and 85 students visited our plant. We support young talent and continue bringing our industry closer to future generations.

Leca Graphics organised “Operación Kilo” across all its plants in Spain, collecting a total of 134 kilos of food for the Food Bank, and collaborated with Fundación Juan XXIII in a Christmas market where products made by people with intellectual disabilities were sold, promoting their social and labour inclusion.

Estellaprint held a family day to show relatives the place where we work every day. Employees and their families toured the facilities to discover together how everything works from the inside — a fantastic opportunity to share our workplace with those closest to us.

Estellaprint and Emsur Saymopack welcomed students interested in the graphic arts sector to their facilities. At Saymopack, graphic arts students learned about the production process guided by company representatives. At Estellaprint, students and teachers from Colegio Salesianos visited several plants. These visits bring young people closer to the graphic arts industry and open up opportunities for their future.
2019 marked the beginning of a firm journey towards Sustainability, laying the foundations for our environmental commitments. Six years later, this approach has been consolidated into mature, coherent management, fully aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), reflecting constant progress in the way we operate.
Environmental management is a structural pillar of our management model. It is supported by certified systems, objective and measurable indicators, specialised digital platforms and continuous improvement processes that allow us to assess, correct and move forward rigorously. Because we understand that Sustainability is not proclaimed: it is proven with data, built through progress and reinforced by responsible, consistent decisions over time. Thanks to the integration of Sustainability into the heart of our strategy, we have taken firm steps towards decarbonising our operations.
The results achieved strengthen our competitiveness, increase business resilience and help reduce the environmental footprint of our customers’ value chain.
Between 2019 and 2025, the Group avoided the emission of nearly 38,000 tonnes of CO₂e. This progress is equivalent to the annual energy consumption of almost 7,900 households and confirms that the combination of efficiency, electrification, renewable energy and process improvement has a real and measurable impact.
At the same time, we have reduced our total energy consumption by 14%, with significant decreases in the most carbon-intensive fuels. This improvement is not the result of an isolated action, but of a plan implemented progressively and coherently across our plants.
What does avoiding more than 38,000 tonnes of CO₂e mean?
A significant reduction in energy consumption over recent years:
The progress achieved is not the result of chance. It responds to a roadmap that we have been deploying for years from the heart of the business. Our plan combines industrial, energy and governance levers, looking ahead to 2030 and with the ambition to continue exceeding the targets set.
Between 2019 and 2025, Grupo Lantero has taken a significant step towards Sustainability, increasing the use of renewable energy from 0% to more than 38%, with 100% renewable energy already in our factories in Spain, Germany, Poland, Brazil and the United States.
From consuming to generating clean energy
We transform the way we work
What is not measured cannot be improved

Production efficiency is one of the most direct ways to reduce environmental impact. Between 2019 and 2025, Grupo Lantero reduced total waste generation by 17.11%, reinforcing its commitment to cleaner, more organised and more efficient production.
In terms of water, our industry is not intensive in the use of this resource, but we maintain responsible management. Between 2019 and 2025, water consumption decreased by 23.20%, from 123,603 m3 to 94,933 m3. This result confirms limited, controlled water management aligned with our environmental commitment.

In 2025, we installed a Solvent Recovery Unit (SRU), enabling us to replace the Regenerative Thermal Oxidiser (RTO).
This technological change represents a turning point in our decarbonisation roadmap, as it acts simultaneously on two key levers: reducing emissions and using resources more sustainably, while promoting the circular economy.
The SRU condenses and recovers the solvent, returning it to the production process in conditions suitable for reuse. In this way, acetate ceases to be waste and becomes a raw material recirculated within the plant itself, bringing the principles of the circular economy to life in a real industrial operation.
Real circularity does not begin or end with packaging. It is built across every link in the chain: from raw material to the effective reincorporation of recovered material. Closing that loop is a collective challenge, and at Grupo Lantero we have chosen to play an active role.
We work together with resin producers, technology institutes, recyclers, industry associations and public administrations to promote R&D projects that enable recycled material to be incorporated into highly demanding applications, including those linked to food contact.
The renewal of ISCC PLUS certification at our Coexpan plants in Madrid, France and Mexico accredits the traceability and responsible management of raw materials, and enables us to incorporate rPS and rPP from chemical recycling, as well as bio-based materials, under the mass balance model. For our customers, this translates into solutions with documented recycled content, audited by a third party and ready to meet new market requirements.
In the same direction, we are driving the COESLA Project, taking a decisive step forward in the circularity of polystyrene. This novel technology developed at Coexpan Madrid opens the door to recycled PS suitable for food contact, addressing one of the sector’s major challenges. Behind the project lies significant investment, firm conviction and a strong focus on recyclability.
In Sustainability, what is not measured does not exist; and what is measured poorly does not count either. That is why, at Grupo Lantero, we strengthen ESG data governance with the same level of rigour we apply to any critical business indicator: effectiveness, control, traceability and transparency. This is how we make decisions, comply with an increasingly demanding regulatory framework and respond robustly to what our customers expect from us.

To maximise our impact on the circular economy and actively participate in the sector’s technical and regulatory evolution, we collaborate with key initiatives and associations, including:

PET Sheet Europe, the sector group of PET sheet manufacturers in the EU and EFTA, which promotes the recognition of functional barrier technologies to incorporate recycled material in food-contact applications.

Flexible Packaging Europe, the European association of flexible packaging manufacturers, which promotes realistic, evidence-based regulation aligned with the essential role of packaging.

ANAIP, the Spanish association of the plastics converting industry, which acts as a sector representative and technical forum to promote innovation, quality and Sustainability.

CEFLEX, the European consortium that promotes the circularity of flexible packaging.

Packnet, the Spanish packaging technology platform that fosters R&D&I collaboration between companies, technology centres and universities.

Circula el Plástico / Chilean Plastics Pact, an initiative integrated into the global network promoted by the Ellen MacArthur Foundation.

Styrenics Circular Solutions, an industry alliance to increase the circularity of styrenic polymers.

HolyGrail 2.0, a project demonstrating the potential of digital watermarks to improve the sorting of post-consumer packaging waste.

ASPACK, the folding carton packaging association in which we participate by contributing technical expertise in quality and the environment.
Packaging is one of the few brand elements that accompanies consumers before, during and after purchase. It is a key touchpoint that conveys values, identity, safety and quality, and plays an essential role in communication, brand experience and loyalty.
That is why designing more sustainable packaging goes far beyond reducing environmental impact. It means developing real, market-ready solutions that maintain — or even improve — product functionality and protection, optimise resource use, facilitate recyclability and help our customers respond effectively to the growing expectations of consumers, retailers and regulators.
Replacing complex structures with monomaterial solutions is the most relevant technical lever to improve the real recyclability of packaging. A single polymer family, a single recycling stream, packaging designed to return to the cycle without compromising performance.

It continues to consolidate its position as one of the most representative solutions of our ability to innovate with purpose. It has been recognised with the WorldStar Award in the Food category, the highest international award in the packaging sector, granted by the World Packaging Organisation.
This recognition adds to a track record of awards that confirms the relevance of the solution: a 100% PET resealable tray that combines recyclability, food protection, convenience and contribution to reducing food waste.

Awarded at Pharmapack in the Eco Design category. Sustainability without compromising safety or technical precision in one of the most demanding sectors.

Better performance, better recyclability. This collaborative project aims to increase the circularity of flexible packaging by creating flexible plastic materials that can be easily recycled, avoiding multilayer packaging that is difficult to process. It also helps reduce food waste by extending the shelf life of the products it contains through its barrier properties.

By incorporating an additional element that can be easily separated, it supports more efficient end-of-life management. It helps facilitate the correct sorting of materials and advances the development of solutions aligned with the principles of the circular economy. At the same time, it allows complementary information or communication elements to be integrated without altering the packaging’s main structure, optimising resources, avoiding more complex interventions and reinforcing a sustainable innovation approach based on functionality, efficiency and circularity.

At Estellaprint, we design folding cartons that make the most of this starting point, optimising grammages, dimensions and finishes to reduce material consumption without compromising product protection or brand image.
Coexpan Montonate has developed and produced a new PET/recycled PET formula in brown-gold tones, combining recycled brown PET with a gold metallised film and certified recycled content of 90%.
We are taking a further step in one of the materials that has historically been most difficult to close in a loop: polystyrene. Today, at Coexpan, we offer packaging solutions incorporating up to 50% rPS, while maintaining technical performance, food safety and production efficiency. A concrete response to the growing demand from brands that need PS packaging with verified recycled content.
Coexpan, together with our customer, has transitioned from virgin PET to 30% and 50% R-PET. Our decontamination technology system at Coexpan Germany has enabled the success of the project, providing a material that meets the plastics requirement in the United Kingdom.
Cold foil printing on folding carton is an advanced technique that makes it possible to add high-definition metallic details directly during the UV offset printing process. By applying thin metallic films without the use of heat or pressure, it achieves a bright or matt, elegant finish that enhances the design with a sophisticated and modern visual effect. In addition to delivering a premium appearance, this technique is a more sustainable alternative to hot stamping, as it reduces energy consumption and eliminates the need for dies or metal tools.

We are committed to continuously improving our performance, strengthening our credibility and transparency with all stakeholders every day. The best proof of this are the demanding third-party certifications we have obtained in key areas, a tangible reflection of our genuine commitment to Sustainability. Because it is not enough to say it; we must prove it.
Our commitment to the planet and the environment is clearly reflected in the annual increase in the number of plants certified under ISO 14001 or similar standards. Our ambition is to certify all plants in the medium term, as part of the continuous improvement process across our operations.
17 plants with ISO 14001 certification.
The integration of corporate social responsibility principles into day-to-day operations is key to implementing the global Sustainability plan. Compliance with these principles is assessed at the Group’s different plants through recognised platforms such as SEDEX and ECOVADIS.
Food Safety is critical for some of the sectors in which we operate. The solutions we offer must fulfil their function with the highest quality standards. For this reason, all plants that produce materials in contact with food are certified by BRC and/or FSSC 22000.
The ISCC PLUS Sustainability certification system, applicable worldwide, assesses all sustainable raw materials, circular and biological materials and renewable energies. This certification is an important recognition of the Group’s commitment to Sustainability, specifically in terms of circularity, recycling and environmental management. It will also enable the use of recycled material (rPS and rPP) from mixed plastic and bio-based material under the mass balance model.
Our commitment to protecting the planet also includes certifications that guarantee that wood-based products come from responsibly managed forests that provide environmental, social and economic benefits.
15 plants with FSC* certification.
8 plants with PEFC* certification.
